Black Dog Books are seeking material for their 2009 anthology Short & Scary. This year, I was fortunate enough to get published in the first anthology, and had fun swapping autographs with much much younger contributors at the launch. I encourage other writers (young and old) to submit. Details are as follows:
short & scary: a whole lot of creepy stories and other chilling stuff. for readers 10–14yrs, submissions due 15 January, 2009. Follow up to short: a collection of interesting short stories and other stuff from some surprising and intelligent people (an anthology of short stories, poetry and illustrations that brought together established writers and illustrators with young and/or unpublished writers and illustrators. Submissions for the 2009 edition are now open. Submit a poem, short story or illustration for this publication. Each entry should be no more than 800 words and will be considered on its own merit. If you are an illustrator, we would love to marry your illustration with a story, so if you are interested in submitting something, we will provide you with a story to illustrate. Of course, if you wish to create a comic or other graphic standalone, feel free to do so.
